What is Hypnotherapy

Hypnosis is used as a tool by the hypnotherapist to focus and relax the client and to gain access to the subconscious mind.

Hypnotherapy is to use hypnosis along with other therapy techniques for the relief of symptoms.

                              The Subconscious Mind

Hypnotherapy is very different from any other form of therapy. It is the only therapy that deals with the subconscious mind.

Although effective, other therapies such as Counselling and Psychotherapy can take longer to produce results than Hypnotherapy, because they deal with the conscious mind which is logical and analytical.

The subconscious mind is where our beliefs, values and expectations about ourselves others and the world are stored, also the emotions from past events and situations as far back as childhoood.

Our subconscious mind does not evaluate or rationalise information, it just stores it as fact, because of this, events or situations that could have happened many years ago can still be affecting the way we live out life today.

Our conscious mind which is logical, and able to evaluate and rationalise a situation, may be in conflict with the beliefs that we hold in our subconscious mind. Psychological problems can occur when there is conflict between the conscious and the subconscious.

Hypnotherapy can help to restore the balance between the conscious and subconscious mind. It is this restoration of balance that produces a healing effect.
